Ongoing debates about anthropogenically caused changes of the global climate and a growing environmental consciousness of the population cause to an expansive examination of environmental footprints of technological products. In this regard the aim of the community research project is the analysis, quantification and assessment of the environmental aspect of industrial trucks (professorship of engine elements and technological logistics/ Helmut-Schmidt Universität Hamburg), cranes and hoisting devices ( professorship of storage and transmission systems/ Technische Universität München) and storage technology (Institut für Fördertechnik und Logistiksysteme/ Karlsruher Institut für Technologie). As a first step based on national and European legislation an extensive list of environmental aspects are established. The environmental aspects are directly and indirectly expected by the conveyor at the intralogistics. The identified environmental aspects came after defined criteria under evaluation and are categorized. This also reveals that the greenhouse gas emission and demand of energy are included in central environmental aspects.
Within the part projects the production life cycle is defined and the concepts for the quantification of the environmental aspects in these life periods, that are conveying specified applied, is developed. Thereby simulation and extrapolation models are used. They get validated and completed through measured values of the manufacturing industry or own results of measures. The Quantification of of the environmental aspects about the production life cyrcle shows different strong specifications. So that the exploitation phase of the engines is the central production life period concerning the height of ecological aspects.
On this base, depending on the initial situation, possible elements of improvement is discussed to influence the height of the environmental aspects of the assessed meaning of conveyance. As a central key solution the energy consumption of the conveying system is a result of the utilization phase. Thereby it gives consideration on the one hand to the mechanical technological configuration on the other hand to the process that is integrated in the machine. Based on the clearly different tasks of the machines and the different technological starting point are the potentials of improvement on different levels and can simply be inspected as specific production groups.
The overall energy consumption of other product groups in the EU is considered to evaluate the height of environmental aspects in the use phase. Therefore it is feasible to draw predications about the relevance of the environmental aspects of the discovered product groups. The result of this predication is that no group of the discovered convey element reached a noteworthy dimension concerning their environmental aspects in the use phase.
Together with the research partners, the professorship of engine elements and technological logistics at the Helmut-Schmidt Universität Hamburg, and the professorship of storage and transmission systems at the Technische Universität München, the “Institut für Fördermittel und Logistiksysteme” (IFL) attends to the part project of storage technology.
